Creating and sending a release

A release starts as a song and becomes a release when you send it to us. You do it all from Releases. 1. Start it Click Send music in the sidebar. If we already distribute you, it opens a new release draft. If you are new to us, it opens a short demo first, and it becomes a release once the team picks it up. A release can hold several songs, so you can add more later with + Add a song. 2. Fill in the release - Release title - Release date - at least 10 days out (see Choosing a release date) - Cover artwork - square (see Audio and artwork requirements) The Label is set by our team when we accept the release. 3. Complete each song For every song: title, DJ-store genre, genre, audio language, and the master audio file. Set the splits so credits total 100%. Add an ISRC only if the track was previously distributed. See Splits, credits and co-artists and ISRC and UPC codes. 4. Check the checklist A footer checklist lists exactly what is left before you can send, for example "Add a release title" or "Complete song #1". When it says Ready to send, you are good. 5. Send Click Send for review and confirm. It goes to the label. You can request changes afterwards, so sending is not final. If the Send button is locked, finish your profile setup first (name, one social link and a photo). Related - How a release moves from draft to live - Editing a release that is already live

💶 Royalties & payments

Your wallet and how you get paid

Wallet shows what you have earned, what has been paid, and your current balance. Your balance is shown in EUR Because our accounting is finalized in euro, your balance and statements are shown in EUR throughout the wallet. Receiving your money in any currency We send payouts by Wise bank transfer, so you can be paid in almost any currency - euro or your local currency - with almost no conversion fee. Wise transfers at a near-market rate, so you keep more of your money wherever you live. Why "total earned" can differ from your EUR balance Distribution statements arrive in USD. Each month, when we close the accounting, we lock the EUR conversion at the real exchange rate that applied then. Because rates move, the running USD total and your locked EUR balance will not match exactly. This is normal. Automatic monthly payouts Each month we automatically pay every artist whose balance is over €100. In most cases you do not need to do anything. Request a payout yourself Prefer to be paid sooner? You can request a payout any time your balance is at least €5 (the minimum covers the transfer fees). See Requesting a payout. Revenue by source Your wallet breaks earnings into: - Streams - distribution statements (streaming, downloads, ad, video, radio, licensing). - Fatstep Sales - direct sales on Fatstep. - Licences - your direct Fatstep licences. - Payments received - what has already been paid to you. After you request The wallet shows "Payout requested on {date}" and you will be paid in a few days. Payment is sent by Wise, so you can receive it in the currency you prefer, at almost no fee. 🖋️ Publishing

What publishing covers

Publishing is about the song itself (the composition), separate from any one recording of it. Here is what we handle when publishing is on. Registration with the collecting societies We register the works so publishing royalties are collected correctly. On a release you will see this as its own stage, labelled SACEM (our own society is SACEM), which then moves to awaiting validation. That deposit is the first step and the one you can follow in the app, not the whole picture. From there the work reaches the collecting societies of other countries through our partners and sub-publishers, so a play abroad is collected by the society that operates there. You do not have to register anywhere yourself, and there is nothing extra to do per territory. Registration is also what makes your composition earn from YouTube: the societies have their own agreements with the platform, so once the work is deposited, the composition side is collected like any other use. Collecting publishing royalties Beyond streaming payouts, compositions earn royalties through performance and mechanical rights. Publishing is how those get collected and paid to the writers. Sync and stock licensing We actively look for opportunities to place your music: sync (film, TV, ads, online video) and stock or production-music libraries. These can bring in licence income and expose your music to new audiences, which often lifts streams too. Who gets paid Publishing follows the songwriter and composer credits on the song. That is why the roles and legal names in your splits matter. See Why legal names and roles matter for publishing. Related - Distribution vs publishing - Cover songs and licensing

How a release moves from draft to live

Every release follows the same path. You can watch it move through each stage on the release page. The stages 1. Draft - you are still building it. Nothing is sent yet. 2. In review - you sent it to the label. We listen and check it. 3. Agreement - we accepted it. Your contract is being prepared, then sent for you to sign. 4. Registration - for publishing, the works are registered with a collecting society, then we wait for validation. Your pipeline shows this step as "SACEM registration" (our society is SACEM). 5. Distribution - your release is being delivered to stores and streaming platforms. 6. Live - it is out in the world. At each step a short banner tells you where things stand and whether anything is waiting on you (for example, "Your contract has been sent - please sign it to continue"). If we ask for changes Sometimes we send a release back with a reason ("Changes requested"). Fix the points listed and resend. It goes back into review. After it is live You can still request an edit to a live release. See Editing a release that is already live. Related - Creating and sending a release - What publishing covers
